SharedReviews.com - Aggregating Independent Content, Sharing the Proceeds

SharedReviews.com looks like a great way to bring together a community of content and share ad revenue across the members of that community.
Through a process outlined on their “how” page, they plan to gather product and service reviews written by consumers and independent bloggers, organize those reviews in a taxonomy and give the community 50% [...]

New Look!

I cleaned up my blog a little last night. I switched to the plaintxtblog theme, put my last 6 flickr uploads in the header, and put my current twitter status in the sidebar.

CeBit is Blocking Pro Bloggers?

Given how fast the tech world changes, I’m surprised that a conference like CeBit would not grant press passes to electronic journalists. Specifically, it sounds like Steve Paine, who lives right there in Germany and has been one of the most consistent and fair news sources on UMPCs, won’t be invited to CeBit. [...]

Techmeme polluting its own results?

The ’sphere is full of glowing approvals of techmeme’s new sponsorship model. I agree that this new model (sponsors’ latest blog posts are listed on the right) is a HUGE benefit to techmeme advertisers, but I’m concerned about the problems it creates for readers.
Since everyone who visits techmeme sees the sponsored posts, these posts [...]

BloggerCon IV - Tuning In is EASY!

If you aren’t going to be at BloggerCon today and tomorrow (I was planning to be there, but had to take my name off the list this morning so I can help out around the house), consider participating over the web!  There’s an IRC channel and a WebCast.

BloggerCon. June 23rd/24th. Be there!

Thanks, Dave, for putting together another awesome unconference!!  Meanwhile, June 23rd is also SerenityDay — “On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave”!

Negativity

I wish every negative comment about Dave Winer and Robert Scoble was accompanied with little symbols that indicate whether or not the person making the comment appreciates Dave for his work on blogging and RSS and Robert for his work on business blogging and Channel 9.  That way, I could ignore all the irrational people [...]

Winer vs Cadenhead (two great friends in a dispute over something they both love)

I’ve been reading Dave’s blog for a LONG time. Through Dave’s blog, I’ve read a fair amount of Rogers Cadenhead’s stuff, too. I know that they have a long history of friendship and collaboration.
Both Rogers and Dave are thinkers, leaders and builders.
The recent dispute is a bummer. Not because these two guys [...]

Thai thinks blogs don’t beget audiences?

More on this topic later, but some quick examples of spontaneous audiences created by blogs: TechCrunch, hackfurby.homestead.com.  The rest of Thai’s post is pretty insightful, though….

Naked Conversations / TechCrunch Party

I’ll be at the Naked Conversations Party tonight (hosted by Michael Arrington at his house). It should be a blast!
Shel and Robert really did a great job on the book. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to blogging, so I was surprised to find so many examples in the book that [...]

Problems with Technorati

It appears that, even though I ping Technorati with every update to my blog, it’s missing the last 60 days worth of posts.  Oh Brother.  And, do you know how I noticed?  That’s right, brrreeeport.

Feed Reset

FYI, I just caused a feed reset.  If you are seeing a lot of unread items from my blog in your aggregator, it’s my fault.  Sorry, won’t happen again!

New theme - Phoenixtheme

My blog has a new theme!  I hope you like it!  The Phoenixtheme look was created by David Peralty.

WordPress 2.0

I did a one-click upgrade to WordPress 2.0.  So far, everything looks ok.  I have to fix the header and sidebar, but I might switch to another theme before doing that.  If you notice anything wrong, please leave me a comment.  THANKS!
