Om’s on fire
Paul Stone found a reference to Google Calendar and Om has more info.
The Origami plot thickens with the found video and Om chastizes Palm for not doing it first (I totally agree).

The Real Microsoft Origami?
Well, it didn’t take long for someone to find a prototype commercial for the Origami device. It’s like the Nokia Internet Tablet, but probably more powerful and probably runs XP. Now the mystery is how much it will cost….
Update: Check out Neowin’s coverage. And lots of stills + mpg version of the video here.

Mysteries On My Mind
What is Origami? Is it a pda? Is it a microPC? Is it a phone? Is it a portable media player? Is it a gaming platform? NetworkWorld says it is definitely an ultra portable lifestyle pc. Maybe it isn’t even a device…. The best discussions on this topic are at scoble’s site and designtastesgood. Not much at wikipedia yet. ARGN doesn’t seem to have declared it an ARG. There is no discussion of it on their forums, so far.
What is Kevin Burton’s new blog idea? His track record is awesome, so far. What’s he got up his sleeve?!
What is Apple introducing on February 28? There’s a humorous idea at timshead and some lively discussion at ThinkSecret.
Amazon Product Previews – AJAX for Associates

Amazon recently introduced a feature called Product Previews for people who are using their Associates program. It’s pretty cool. Amazon Associates is Amazon’s affiliates system where sites link to Amazon products and banners with a special id in the url which gives the Associate a share of the profits from the sale of the linked products. With Product Previews, links to Amazon can now have rich popups when the links are moused over. The popups contain a product image, a buy now button, review information, etc. Note: you can move the preview window around. Doing that will ‘pin’ it to the page until you hit close.
Basically, the normal link format for Associates hasn’t changed: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/
INSERT_ASIN_HERE/INSERT_ASSOC_ID_HERE. The difference is that you add Javascript to the bottom of the page. So, all your old links to amazon products will automatically be given the Preview treatment.
For instance: Naked Conversations (book), Tron (dvd), Palm TX (pda).
During this beta period, only 50% of visitors to your pages will actually see the Previews – this is so Amazon can see if it’s helping or hurting business.
The code snippet to add the Amazon Product Preview to your site is here: snippet.txt. The official docs are here.
Thai thinks blogs don’t beget audiences?
More on this topic later, but some quick examples of spontaneous audiences created by blogs: TechCrunch, hackfurby.homestead.com. The rest of Thai’s post is pretty insightful, though….

Full Auto
It’s getting terrible review scores, but Full Auto is a ton of fun. It’s exactly what I expected after reading the previews and playing the demo over and over again. I think Jonny Ram says it best: “It’s a bit like a modern day Roadblasters – lots of wanton destruction while trying to maintain a good racing line.” I never made the connection until reading that sentence. RoadBlasters is a GREAT game – one of my favorites.
Marble Blast Ultra (XBox Live Arcade) is also a lot of fun.
